The 2017 Neptune league got underway at Southbourne beach last night, as always April is not the most exciting of results as many team struggle to catch sizeable fish.

Our teams’ campaign started exactly like that, we caught a few fish including turbot, smoothound, small eyed ray and whiting yet only one of the teams whiting was sizeable.

1st Xch Angling ‘B’                         2lb 12oz
2nd Boscombe & Southbourne      2lb 4 1/2oz
3rd Xch Angling ‘A’                         1lb 15 1/2oz
4th Christchurch & dist ‘A’              8oz
5th Christchurch & Dist ‘B’             7 1/2oz
6th Loni’s Angling Centre                5oz

The best fish of the night was a 1lb 10oz garfish (+62.5% specimen) caught by Andy Mapstone, the fish is likely to win the prize for the best specimen fish caught over the whole year and it’s only April.
Our next match is at Hengistbury Head on Monday 8th May, let’s hope we do better!
See you by the waters edge……..
